MISSION
MISSION
SEVA is a teacher-led service organization that connects talented international educators with identified areas of need in Nepal through its service learning program.
THE MINDSET
Professional development can inspire a few different feelings, but we believe that first and foremost, it should be creative and enjoyable. We found that enthusiastic, talented educators who are seeking guidance in how to start or improve service learning in their classrooms are often referred to books with “recipes” for service projects. But what about those teachers who prioritize a student-driven classroom and who need support?
THE MINDSET
THE CHALLENGE
THE CHALLENGE
What if teachers were challenged to pursue their passions? What if they were afforded the opportunity to serve and share their experiences with students and colleagues? What if service learning was truly collaborative, creative, and compelling? Could they use their experiences and training to exchange their stories and create an opportunity for sustainable transformation? What can they extract from this experience?
THE METHOD
THE METHOD
SEVA is a teacher-led service organization that links gifted educators with areas of need in Nepal. Our participants work through three phases that direct them through readings and research while developing and implementing their service projects, then connecting their experiences back to their classrooms and communities. We offer support for each phase of the program, including a three-week trip to different regions in Nepal for an empowering exchange between American and Nepali teachers.
